Good morning!
This is Issue 63.3 of Digestable, your thrice-weekly mouthful of things happening in the world.
Today’s news, fermented:
Here’s me, late - the swamp was calling! Photographic proof below.
Tomorrow is Juneteenth, so here are some tidbits:
The analysis here is simple, I think. The declaration of Juneteenth as a holiday is a symbolic victory, AND, without meaningful action to dismantle white supremacy and deliver reparations to the countless people harmed by slavery and its modern disguises, symbolism is a dangerous distraction.
Celebrate by giving some Black trans and queer folks your money: one, two, three, four.

Friends, let us not get distracted.
DJ toMoR0’s low-key Music Show
Well hey hi hello there it’s been a while since we last danced together here in this virtual space! I’ve been taking some much needed time away from screens as the farming season ramps up, but I’ve been itching to get back to my low-key DJ toMoR0 routine. I’ve loved curating sounds for ya’ll to listen to in quarantine, and supporting artists still making music during a pandemic.
Our context is changing here on the East Coast at least - my biggest indicator happened last week, when I got on a plane (!!) and returned to Minneapolis, a place I called home for many years, and went to a *Live Concert* (!!) at one of my favorite venues. Wild!
Anyway it was amazing and if you’re ever in the Twin Cities I recommend checking out the Roe Family Singers on Monday nights at the 331 Club. And keep an eye out for their new album coming this September!
But otherwise and for the most part, I’m still hunkered down at home, dancing alone in my underwear while cooking food for one. So I’m excited to have found out that Naomi Diaz of the phenomenal twin sister duo Ibeyi has been of the same mind - and is curating playlists for the occasion! Find the Digging Gold playlist on your preferred streaming app and look out for the rest of the series as it’s released this year.
You can also listen to their new songs for the movie How to Stop a Recurring Dream which honestly looks rather mediocre but does have the star power and well-reviewed performance of Bridgerton breakout Ruby Barker, so it might get my attention long enough to see her shine in a bigger role and listen to Ibeyi.
In other slightly belated news, P!nk has a new song, which is just fun and the video is required viewing like wow omg so sweet with her daughter and a little creepy with those floating eyeballs but like yes I’m so here for it. Read more about the story inspiration and accompanying documentary here. New music also from Modest Mouse (+iconic cow content) and Weezer. Can you tell what year I was born? Teenage DJ toMoR0 is very happy about this lineup.
