Good morning!

Welcome to Digestable, your mouthful of things happening in the world.

Today’s news, fermented:

Another exhausting news week here on planet earth!!

But I’m coming to you today with some good news. Earlier this week, legislation to get a windfall tax—read, a Big Tax—on oil corporations was introduced. “We can’t get anything done ever,” you say. Of course, you are right, but miracle of miracles, it seems like everyone is finally catching on that Big Oil (or as I prefer to call it, little oil), is the enemy of the people.

New polling has found overwhelming support for this windfall tax, including 73% of Republicans. For more on the urgent need to stop oil profiteering, check out STOP, a project I’ve been helping get off the ground this week.

You can sign the petition on the landing page if you’re eager to show support for dismantling the industry with its hands around our collective throat; check out the blog for regular updates on the campaign.

The other good news this week is that baby puffins are called PUFFLINGS, which I believe is cause for joy.
