Good morning!

Welcome to Digestable, your thrice-weekly mouthful of real things happening in the world, minus alarmist pandemic news.

Today’s news, fermented:

So much news! So little sleep! I’m virtually supporting organizing at COP26 from home, so that’s what my brain is full of.

A couple of tweets on the climate talks:

Largely unknown thing about #COP26 is that military is exempt from (already weak) climate commitments. Militarism is scar on the land & military is one of the world's largest polluters, but is excluded from mandatory greenhouse gas emission reduction standards. #NoWarNoWarming

#COP26 is a "big business, a continuation of colonialism where people come not to listen to us, but to make money from our land and natural resources."

DJ toMoR0’s low-key Music Show

Today’s space here is dedicated to recovery. Whatever you’re going through right now as you read this, I hope you find some relief and peace. Our brains and bodies talk to each other, and when we go through tough things physically, our minds rewire. Listening to music (good, bad and in between) has often helped me through the biggest recoveries, and rediscoveries, in my life.

This is an unusual chapter in my DJ chronicles, as instead of sharing new music or a particular artist on my radar, I’m sharing some collaborative recovery-themed playlists. These were started by friend of Digestible, dear soul, cute pup parent, and about-to-be-in-recovery human who always knows what tunes to put on in any given situation to make it better. The call was put out to add to these communal playlists, as a means of sharing in the creative healing process and keeping our friend going during long periods of stillness.

There’s nothing I love more than a living community art project. Please add your favorite upbeat recovery tunes here, and lowkey recovery jams here, and of course, share with anyone you know that may need someone else to DJ their recovery journey. I’m honored to have been offered the chance to add some of my favorite songs of the moment to these playlists, knowing they’ll be listened to in any number of healing contexts as brains rewire and bodies rest.
