Good morning!
Welcome to Digestable, your thrice-weekly mouthful of real things happening in the world, minus alarmist pandemic news.
Today’s news, fermented:
It’s been a busy week+ over here, so coming to you with gratitude after a brief publishing hiatus.
Some things I have been doing include:
Getting this opinion piece published in the LA Times, in partnership with Geoffrey Supran, a researcher who rocked my young climate brain/world a few years ago!
Also having an extended conversation with Geoffrey, which you can listen to here
Turning 26 and ranting to the government about how it’s time to hold the fossil fuel industry accountable for ruining the world
In case the message wasn’t coming through loud and clear, this week was a big one not just because COP26 is starting next week, but also because Big Oil was in court.
The result: after ~6 hours of brutal hearings in which the Republicans tripped over their own stupid feet to APOLOGIZE to and THANK the CEOs who are profiting off the knowing destruction of our only home, while those very CEOs *lied* under oath (see: Big Tobacco circa 1994), Carolyn Maloney subpoenaed their wealthy bullshitting asses for a treasure trove of documents. The hope: that these documents are enough to put Big Oil out of business and make them hand over their thick profits.
Anyway, I’ve been yelling about this all week, and boy is it time for a break.
We’ll be back in your inbox, frog willing, on Monday.

~Caro’s Tarot~
Good morning Digestable readers! It’s been a minute, how are you? How are you feeling this morning? Have you tuned in with your mind or body yet today? Before our reading this morning, I have a little homework assignment for you. You see, before I start any readings, I’ve started to get into the habit of doing a little meditation and body scan. Reading Tarot is an energetic exchange, and both I as the reader and you as the receiver need to be in tune and call into our intuition. Intuition is a funny thing, it’s those funny tummy rumblings that warn you or give you a heads up that something feels either really right or really wrong. In Tarot, we practice a lot tuning into this part of ourselves, the part that subconsciously knows more about us than we realize. I like to think intuition lies in the gut, so when I meditate and do a body scan, I like to pay extra attention to this area. It’s also important to be relaxed both to tap into that intuitive thinking and to come into a reading with a good mindset.
With this in mind, let’s dive into our reading! This week I wanted to read around the theme of….you guessed it, intuition. The question I will be asking the cards is, “How can we tap into our intuition this weekend? How can we best nurture our intuitive thinking?”
…Three of wands! This card tells us:
“Standing solidly on Earth, you’ve got your wands for support and you’re contemplating your plans. You’re working hard and getting ready for the future. It’s working! You’ve got a solid strategy, so all you have to do is put it into action”
Alright, I didn’t realize y’all were already so tuned in! Sounds like what we’re doing is working and it’s time to really start listening and take that inner knowing seriously.
Until next time readers!
*Hot Goss*
Brought to you by the superb Latifah Azlan.
Comedian John Mulaney's love life has been one of the messier pieces of ~*Hot Goss*~ this year. Back in May, we found out that John and his wife of more than five years, Anne-Marie Tendler, had divorced somewhat soon after he left rehab. People were surprised, especially when it was then revealed that three months after the divorce, John was dating actress Olivia Munn. The last time we heard from him, John was gushing over his girlfriend on Late Night with Seth Meyers and confirming that the pair are expecting a child together.
There were a lot of questions around the timeline of John and Olivia's relationship and lots of people believe that there was overlap between John's marriage and his current relationship. And now there are rumors that John and Olivia have broken up, possibly because he cheated on her. Wooooof!
According to celebrity blind item Instagram account Deuxmoi, the pair called it quits after John was allegedly caught cheating with another woman but they won't be announcing the split anytime soon. Probably for the best given the scandalous nature of how their relationship started in the first place. However, keep in mind that Deuxmoi isn't the most credible source as anyone can submit anything they want, so it's always best to take these posts with a dumpster-full of salt. In any case, someone in either John or Olivia's camp have been seeing these rumors and they definitely wanted to put them to rest. Enter the evergreen People Magazine exclusive. Sources have confirmed to the tabloid that John and Olivia are "going strong," even sharing exclusive photos of the couple enjoying lunch together this past weekend.
Sources have also been dropping updates on the couple's wellbeing to other outlets such as Us Weekly. This one's an odd write up though. The source really went to great lengths to highlight Olivia's feminist credentials but instead of making it sound like the relationship was solid, it read more to me as priming the audience for a future breakup and controlling the narrative in advance given how people have reacted to this pairing since their relationship was first confirmed. Who knows though. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if they did call it quits in the next year. I don't think anybody would be.
