Good morning!
Welcome to Issue 74.1 of Digestable, your thrice-weekly mouthful of real things happening in the world, minus alarmist pandemic news.
Today’s news, fermented:
Just one article today, connecting the importance of strong US climate policy to November’s international climate negotiations.
Mood I’m trying to hold onto, going into this week: these fungi live on and digest piles of animal shit, while continuing to be radiant and highly evolved.

If there was a headline I did not expect to read this morning, it's that there are rumors that Angelina Jolie and The Weeknd might be dating.
Over the weekend (ahem), the pair spent over two hours at a restaurant in Santa Monica and leaving together after dinner. This is actually the pair's second sighting together, after they were photographed leaving the same restaurant at the end of June, which started the dating rumors in the first place. In the past, The Weeknd has been linked to supermodel Bella Hadid and singer/actress Selena Gomez, while Angelina had an infamusly high-profile courtship, marriage, and split from no-explanation-needed Brad Pitt. Her divorce has been unfolding somewhat acrimoniously over the last few years and in recent months, Angie has been spotted spending time with ex Jonny Lee Miller in Brooklyn.
This is quite an unusual pairing for me and I don't think I'm totally alone in this camp. Angie's been all about her children and her philanthropic work for many years now, and even more so after her divorce from Brad. Not that she can't date because of that, but more so that The Weeknd just seems a bit of unusual choice given what she's been more focused on lately. So I tried thinking of other things that could bring Angelina Jolie and The Weeknd together and lead to a three-hour dinner at a fancy Italian restaurant for the pair. The explanations that seem most plausible are:
Angelina's planning a surprise birthday party for one of her kids and she wants The Weeknd to perform.
They are sharing notes over their shared philanthropic work at the United Nations and are collaborating on something new together on that front.
They... really are dating?
What do you think of this pairing, if the rumors are true?
